Hello, Fellow Travelers! We have finalized the schedule for the retreat, and it has some great stuff! We have three days of workshops, guided meditation and yoga, a big helping of joviality from our friend Scott Grace, and lots of fun and relaxation for your Inner Child.
Life in the Playground (Scott Grace)
Songs, stories, playful exercises, time for sharing, a bit of guided visualization, all to loosen the weight of false responsibilities and practice playing again as healthy adults with vibrant inner children.
Scott Grace, who has been described as a cross between John Denver, Robin Williams and Dr. Seuss, is wanted by the authorities for creating the peace, as well as defying the law of gravity with levity.

Discovering the I Am (Cathey A)
Cathey A. is a fellow ACA, working the program. She has over 20 years of teaching experience, has co-facilitated workshops in St. Louis for victims of sexual abuse, and has guided her clients in mediation for self discovery and healing for two decades.
Cathey is teacher, spiritual channel, and she works as a Board Certified Massage Therapist and Bodyworker, Reiki Master, Shamanistic practitioner and Ordained Minister. She is eclectic in her beliefs and knows that true healing comes from within. She is on a mission to help others discover their “I am”, through her “I am that, I am” Project.
If you attended the I Am workshop at the 2019 Retreat, come back this year for fresh insights into your True Nature.
Listening and Learning ChildSpeak (Jeanete B)
“I love ACA and the Twelve Step Program, in that it helped me understand the trajectory of alcoholism in my family of origin and my historical/genealogical family. I am first a product of my family culture. That understanding helped me to see that initially I could not have turned out any differently.
For the past 9 ACA years, my goal continues to be revelation and healing of my inner child. In the world of accomplishments, I have a PhD in Metaphysics, am an Ordained Minister, a Certified Ropes Challenge Course Facilitator, Make A Wish Hike Leader, as well as holding three teaching credentials (with one as a Learning Specialist). That last title applies to me – a learning specialist in that I teach what I wish to learn. What I present in the workshop is my own experience, strength and hope in healing our childhood wounds.”
Connecting Through Nature Art (Sharon O)
Sharon led the in-person public workshop Inner Child Playdate and Nature Art Activity in the Phoenix area in November 2020, and has been hosting what has become the Connecting the Loving Parent & Inner Child Weekly Workshop on Zoom since January 2021.
The practices she shares in the workshops came through her own inner child work and she felt strongly called to share them with others. Some aspects of the workshop are also informed by Sharon’s experience and training as a facilitator of Integrative Processing Technique.
Scared No More: Sponsorship 101 (Melissa W & Melissa R)
The workshop is meant for those who have worked the ACA Steps through Step 9 and are interested in carrying the message of healing. Two experienced sponsors will be sharing their experience, strength, and hope, peppered with some laughter and lessons learned. The Melissas have each led workshops in other capacities. This is their first collaboration.
Love Addiction / Love Avoidance (Irene J)
Participants will learn how parenting dynamics can contribute to codependence and relationship attachment styles. Healthy relationship skills will be taught to aid in Adult child healing.
Irene J has presented the Love Addiction / Love Avoidance workshop at two previous ACA Retreats, as well as facilitating the workshop for Rio Retreat at The Meadows and for the main Meadows campus.
Irene is sole owner of Restoring Hope Counseling and works with other private practices in Scottsdale, Arizona. Her counseling background has shaped her passion in the field of trauma and addiction. With more than 15 years of experience as a therapist serving couples, families and individuals, Irene treats an array of issues such as anxiety, depression, sex addiction, relationship/intimacy issues, complex trauma, and addiction.
